Watching the Open

The Course

Glen Abbey Golf Club stands has a long and storied past. The 350-acre plot was originally acquired in 1937 by André Dorfman, a wealthy mining engineer based in Toronto, who built a country home for his family. The property named RayDor – an amalgamation of his first and last names – featured a handsome stone mansion fashioned after Dorfman’s love of the classic estate homes in his native France.

The renamed Glen Abbey Golf Club opened to great acclaim on June 1st, 1976 and just one year later, the course hosted its first Canadian Open. Five years after opening its doors, the property was sold to the RCGA. The organization operated the course for 18 years before it was purchased by ClubLink, who continues to manage Glen Abbey as a semi-private golf course.

This year, Glen Abbey Golf Club and Golf Canada look to build upon that legacy by welcoming back the RBC Canadian Open for a record 30th time.
