Volunteer Program FAQ’s

  • Who can volunteer?

Individuals must be a minimum of 14 years of age to volunteer. Check the committee descriptions for specific age restrictions. We encourage students, community groups and individuals to become apart of the RBC Canadian Open!

  • I am a returning volunteer, do I still need to register?

Thanks for volunteering again! We do need all new and returning volunteers to register as a volunteer year over year to ensure Golf Canada has the most up-to-date information. If you volunteered with us since 2023, please click “Returning Volunteer” and login with you credentials. If you are a new volunteer, please click “New Volunteer” and create an account.

  • When do I pay for my volunteer package?

Payment will be required at the end of the volunteer registration in order to complete the process. Golf Canada will send bi-weekly reminders to complete registration through email if payment is not processed.

  • How much is the fee to volunteer?

The early bird price for the Volunteer Uniform package offered is $70 until October 13th, 2025. The full price of the Volunteer Uniform Package is $95 after this date.

  • Why is there a fee to volunteer?

The RBC Canadian Open provides several unique experiences to our valued volunteers and your registration payment helps offset the cost of the volunteer package.

Volunteer Uniform Package (valued at over $500) includes:

    • Official volunteer shirt & hat
    • Volunteer bag
    • Commemorative tournament pin
    • Volunteer badge (weekly grounds access as a volunteer or spectator) & branded lanyard
    • 1 transferrable weekly guest pass
    • Complimentary weekly parking pass and shuttle service (volunteer only shuttle) to a designated volunteer lot
    • Volunteer party invitation
    • Meal voucher for every shift worked
    • Red hat
    • and more!
  • Do I have to work every day?

Volunteers are not required to work all days of the tournament but are expected to fulfill a minimum commitment of 4 shifts (over 4 days). Note that length of hours for shifts can vary by committee based on different responsibilities.

  • What if my availability changes?

If your availability changes, you can log in and update it at any time prior to your initial schedule assignment under the “Contact Info” tab. Once your Committee Chair creates your schedule, this function will be locked. If you require changes after the schedule is finalized, please contact your Committee Chair through your volunteer account by logging in through the top right of the page.

  • How do I find out my committee assignment?

Committee assignments can be found by logging into your account & checking the “My committee assignments” tab. Committee assignments will start to be completed in January.

  • When will I find out my work schedule?

The Chair for each Committee is responsible for providing a schedule for their respective volunteers. This schedule will be available approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the tournament and can be found online when logging in through the top right side of the page.

  • What is volunteer orientation?

Volunteer orientation provides pertinent information to all volunteers including a detailed description of your duties, an explanation of championship week operations and Committee updates directly from your respective Committee Chair.

A mandatory General Orientation will be held virtually via a webcast during the 2nd week of May. More details about timing and method of orientation will be available at a later date.

All volunteers are ambassadors of the RBC Canadian Open and assist spectators on-site with many inquiries. Attending the volunteer orientation and understanding all tournament details is important to provide an excellent experience for all of our guests.

  • When do I receive my uniform, badge and guest pass?

You will receive your volunteer uniform, badge & guest pass on Uniform Pick-Up Day. Details about the timing and method of the Uniform Pick-Up will be available at a later date.

An alternative uniform pick-up date will be offered for those who can’t make it due to extenuating circumstances.

  • What if I am not able to attend volunteer orientation?

We expect all volunteers to make it to the orientation, but if you cannot due to extenuating circumstances (Ex. family emergency, scheduled to work) an alternative option will be provided from Golf Canada where volunteers will receive the information.

  • Will I be guaranteed the position I select as my first choice?

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee your first committee preference. Volunteers are placed into Committees on a first-come first-serve basis and must meet all the requirements of the committee.

  • What happens if the committee I selected as my first choice is full?

You will be moved to the next available position on another Committee. Tournament staff aim to place volunteers in one of the top three choices as indicated on your registration form. Once a committee has been filled it is removed from the application form and is no longer an option.

  • What if I can no longer volunteer?

If you can no longer volunteer, please notify tournament staff (rbccovolunteers@golfcanada.ca) and your committee chair. A full refund will be issued to the original form of payment card that was provided as long as tournament staff have been notified before the refund deadline: Friday, May 8th, 2026. Refunds will not be issued after this date unless due to extenuating circumstances.

  • What type of bottoms am I allowed to wear when volunteering?

All volunteers are asked to provide their own plain black, shorts or pants, or skorts. All shorts or skorts must fall no more than four inches above the knee. Denim, cargo pants/shorts are not acceptable.

  • Can I wear my volunteer shirt from a past RBC Canadian Open?

Volunteers are easily identified by spectators by their uniform. It is important that all volunteers wear the current year’s volunteer shirt and hat.

  • How do I receive information from the RBC Canadian Open?

The RBC Canadian Open and Golf Canada utilize several tools to communicate important information to our volunteers. Key information can be found on the volunteer website, on the top menu. Additionally, updates will be sent via email in a notice or newsletter format.
